Coil tubing jetting is used to displace fluids from the well bore. As the fluids are displaced and the pressure exerted on the reservoir decreases, the hydrocarbon begins to flow.

Nitrogen is also used to displace pipeline and pressure vessels from potentially dangerous gasses. Nitrogen is inert and hence non-flammable.

Nitrogen is also be used for pressure/leak testing as part of commissioning installations.
